A "chapeau" indeed! So glad to get the whole recap, including Fokina coach...this is turning into a French Open that feels like a season of White Lotus or some other dramedy....

PS: poor Sinner. Crappy timing. But this is his Achilles Heel. ND first quarter of his career was pretty brittle physically and changed his approach mentally and physically drastically to become fitter. Sinner may need a similar workup…

I’m shocked and very disappointed for Sinner today. What were RG thinking putting him on when they did? This was his big chance to nail the French. 🇫🇷 They need a heat policy like in Oz then they can close the roof to cool things down! Poor Jannick.

That was indeed shocking and disappointing dear Hilary. Roland Garros tries to make it a mix of day and night sessions for the big players on the main courts. Seems fair that Sinner would play in the day as well as the night after playing his opening match at night. Being on early should have been an advantage. it got hotter later! And he almost had it with his early dominance but then it hit him. Clearly something going on that is unique or specific to him. Cerundolo had no problem. They do have a heat policy here at Roland Garros but no roof closing policy for the heat

Thanks for being here and for supporting my work for so many years

Sounds like a real bain Turque over there and a whole lot to write about, but you juggled it perfectly, keeping all the balls in the air. I'm very distressed by Hailey Baptiste's injury, because—don't tell anybody—I was secretly harboring the hope that she would pull off the shocker of winning this French, a hope engendered by her recent defeat of World No. 1 Sabalenka in Madrid. I have a special affection for Haitians, as one of my best friends in the 1980s was a Haitian, and I found that I could bandy about his Haitian-French with him, and, well, you know, Hailey is of Haitian descent and has a super-nice personality. But it sounds, to my regret, like her injury is pretty bad. But all the suspense now is as to how Djokovic will fare against Fonseca. My hope for the Old Boy is that Fonseca's five-setter against Prizmic may have taken the Mickey out of him. It's comforting to know that you'll be on the job covering it.

So with you on Hailey! Very sad for her...I had high hopes.

I'm glad the Ukrainian women are doing so well. So are the Swiss women, at least so far. And South American men, which is also nice to see at a time when the tours seem to be making that entire continent less of a priority.
